Cake mix cookies

I have a huge love for these cookies, they remind me of my childhood. My sweet momma made these all the time. I learned how to make them at such a young age and they are so fun! Now I get to make them with my kids and they get to learn one of the easiest recipes I own! They are so easy and can be whipped up in a matter of minutes. Only 3 ingredients and they bake quickly! You can make so many different varieties!

Ingredients:

1 box cake mix

1/4 cup oil

2 eggs

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix all ingredients in a bowl, scoop out rounded teaspoons and roll into a ball.
  3. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 Min.
  4. You can roll into some sugar, cinnamon sugar or sprinkles

SomeΒ of our favorite varieties are:

-White cake mix rolled in cinnamon sugar

-Fudge rolled in powdered or regular sugar

-Spice cake rolled in cinnamon sugar

-White cake mix rolled in sprinkles

-Funfetti rolled in sugar

  • Hello! I made this cookies tonight! They did end up turning out great. I do have a question however – when I mixed them up the batter was so thick my hand held mixer would hardly mix them. Should they be this thick? Also when you say roll in sugar and sprinkles is that after they bake or before? Thanks!

    • before you bake! Depending on where you live the cake mixes can vary in oz. ours here are 15.5 or 16.25oz packages.

  • Hi, what size are your cake mix packets. Im in Australia and our packaging can be quite different. I made these at Christmas and I killed my mixer as it was too thick to mix through, I have a new better mixer coming this week but just wondered on the cake mix packaging size if that may be the issue.

  • I just made these cookies and a quick tip is scoop the mix straight into the bowl of sugar and cover it, then start rolling it into a ball. It makes it way easier roll and it won’t stick to your hands.

    • you can do either sugar, depending on what kind of look you want. The powdered sugar will be more like a crinkle cookie.

  • Didn’t have any Valentine treats for my kids when they get off the bus. These cookies saved the day. So easy and perfect for my 4-year-old to help me. We did a white cake mix with some rolled in pink sugar sprinkles, some red sugar sprinkles, and some dyed red rolled in cinnamon and sugar. Quick and easy and I had everything on hand. Thanks for sharing!

  • Made these with my two oldest boys tonight with strawberry cake mix and chocolate chips!! So yummy kinda taste like a chocolate covered strawberry!!! πŸ“

  • I love these cookies. I even added funfetti icing on tip with sprinkles and it really adds a lot. So good!!!

  • I tried these today with my boys. They were really sticky when we rolled them, is they normal? Hopefully they taste good

    • You could add a little bit of flour if that’s the problem. I tend to use the cake mixes that are bigger!

  • Yum! I made these Friday! Yum! I also used a devils food cake mix and rolled them in cinnamon and sugar! Thank you for sharing!

  • Thanks! Cookies came out awesome. We started making these the beginning of quarantine. So far did the funfetti, strawberry, lemon and now chocolate with pb chips!
