I made this cake a few years ago when the kids were little(er) and it was so fun. They loved it and it’s out of the norm so it was fun and exciting! I knew I had to make it again this year. It was super fun to make and the kids loved it this year just as much as they did a few years ago. It’s kind of the same recipe as the Better Than Anything Cake. But this time it’s with the white cake mix and Oreos on top rather than a chocolate cake mix with toffee bits on top.
1 white cake box mix plus ingredients listed on box.
Purple, blue, green, orange and yellow food coloring
8 oz. tub Cool Whip
14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
1 jar caramel topping
15 Golden Oreos, crumbled
Mix the cake batter according to the directions on the box. Divide the batter into 5 bowls.
Dye each bowl of batter a different color (orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple).
Pour each bowl of batter into a well greased and floured 9×13” cake pan. Don’t try to marble or swirl the batter. Just pour each one right into the center of the dish, one on top of the other.
Bake according to the directions on the box.
While cake is baking combine sweetened condensed milk and caramel in a bowl.
After cake is done, toothpick inserted should come out clean.
Let the cake sit for 5 minutes, then poke holes in the top with a back side of a wooden spoon and pour the sweetened condensed milk/caramel mixture into the holes and evenly over top.
Spread the cool whip over top of the cake. Sprinkle the oreo crumbs on top. Cover and chill for at least 4 hours, overnight is really best.
We loved this cake and it can be done with any colors or variety of cake flavors. Try something different and let us know how you like it.
